Greetings all :thumbsdown_anim:

Well i am new here (obviously), and i have just recently installed 10.4.6 on to my pc. here are the specs if that helps....

AMD 3500+

2x512mb corsair twinx

160GB Old IDE job

XFX 7600GT xxx

Asus A8N SLI SE

Audigy 2ZS

During the installation nothing seemed to go wrong which was great! But since i am a total novice to OSx it is proving very difficult to get any sort of 'Functionality' out if it (i cant seem to set it up properly). First off, Yes, i have been reading through pages and pages of guides and tutorials on how to set it up but often these are for people with at least an incling of what they are doing, unfortunately that isn't me lol, and i need someone to 'hold my hand' through it if possible. :wacko:

Firstly, no matter how hard i try i cannot force the resolution to stay at my native 1440x900? I followed the instructions with punching in the commands in the terminal, and that went OK except that i dont really know how to 'save' what i had done before rebooting and so the rez always goes to 1024x(xxx) at startup. So....Q: Once i have keyed in the 'command' in the terminal....along the lines of <-key>graphicsmode</key> and then <string>1440x900x32@60</string> how do i "save" it properly before i reboot so that it Works.?

Next Question...things would be FAR easier if i could connect to the internet while i am in OSx and i think it is KEY to my success. I am at present having to jump between XP and OSx (dual boot) which is as you can imagine not ideal, to get info off the net on XP. I have a Speedtouch USB modem, which is in the list of modems to choose from in the list, fine. But when i try to connect with all my details keyed in it just says there is a Modem error (along those lines). I have the installation CD that came with my virgin.net broadband, but it doesn't seem to work like it does in XP and does not install the drivers for the modem properly, all it lets me install is the diagnostic checker when i browse the virgin.net CD. I did 'try' that IONetworkingfamily.kext route. by placing it in the extensions folder. But when i reboot it tells me that it was not installed properly and wont work. So there again i dont think i am keying it in correctly in the terminal and more importantly (i think) saving my work properly before rebooting.?

The last thing is that Natit.kext, but i think i will come back to that just now (unless it is vital, i dont know?) but basically i dont know what to do with the darn thing. Its not as though there are installation 'readme's' or anything lol.

So guys/girls as you can see, this will be difficult for me and it would be GREATLY appreciated if you could help me out with these few basic beginnings to what i hope will eventually be a fully functioning 'Hackintosh' (i think thats the lingo you guys are using lol i dont know)

:blink::wacko:

(oh btw, there are about 3 maybe 4 other people on another forum that are following me with this and so if you can help me solve this then that will mean another 3/4 people will be mighty pleased, as i will be able to either relay the info or link this page, so that'd be great)
