Hi folks,

My Synaptics touchpad is being rather "jumpy". Now and then, it will go wild and then jump to an edge of the screen and sometimes click things. It's rather irritating, because I'm basically running Mac OS X for general use now, on my HP dv5178us notebook.

I've had this problem before, but only with X.org on Linux. In Linux, it happened when I either didn't have the Synaptics touchpad driver loaded, or when it was badly configured (device parameters were wrong).

Messing with the System Preferences for the Trackpad hasn't helped, and after scouring the forums for 'Synaptics', I've only found people listing their hardware.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the jumpyness?

EDIT: Forgot to note that I'm using JaS 10.4.8.

Like I said. I already searched. The forums seem to have a few references to completely non-functional touchpads, or people listing their hardware specs, but no references to a caffeine-infused (jumpy) touchpad.

Just click the fscking link, I did the search and there are posts that help. I've had it with some of the {censored} that people on the forums do.
