MenZa
I was attempting to download the JaS.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3-10.4.8 torrent earlier, but noone was seeding it (Demonoid is no better), so I instead grabbed 10.4.7 off Demonoid, which is supposed to finish in 10 hours. It seems 10.4.7 will function very well with most of my hardware--quite similar to 10.4.8, so am I stupid for using 10.4.7, rather than waiting for a good 10.4.8 torrent? I'm really anxious to try OSX86 soon, and I seriously cannot wait while downloading 0.2 kb/s (or less--4-5 weeks of continous download). What's your recommendation? DanS
MenZa, Check the wiki website to see if your PC components are compatable with 10.4.7. This version (10.4.7) will install the 8.4.1 kernel. Some drivers that members have written will only work with the 8.8.1 kernel that the JaS.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3-10.4.8 install DVD has. You will enjoy OS X far more than Windows. I have a PC with Windows XP and the only time I use it is to read my email and burn DVDs. I have an Apple Cube (upgraded 1.7Ghz PowerPC) with 10.4.8 installed and see no functional difference between it and my Hackintosh. Good Luck. MenZa
Hmm, yeah that might be a bit of a problem. Isn't it possible to compile a kernel yourself, once it's installed? DanS
Check this post for updating the kernel http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=32025&st=0 Semthex has also created an updater script for replacing the kernel with version 8.8.1 You can do a search on this forum for where to find the his kernel for manual replacement or for the script. Good Luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42389-1047-vs-1048/#findComment-303887 Share on other sites
