Hi folks,

first of all thanks for all the information and knowledge that is shared around here.

I´m not sure if this is the place, but I´ll try and ask right away.

I installed the JAS 10.4.8 version of OSX with the AMD fix chosen during custom install.

My machine is a AMD 64 3500+, 1 GB Ram, 1 IDE 120 GB hdd, mainboard is nvidia nforce 430 with onboard geforce 6150, nothing else in terms of cards is installed at the moment.

Booting from the dvd and selecting the hdd is working like a charme. Deleted it and used the mac journaled format to prepare it. After that I only installed the AMD fix from the custom instalaltion and nothing mor than that.

Installtions works fine and is finished within 15 minutes. Than I get the screen where osc wants to reboot the machine and here the problems start, I can either click to reboot sooner or wait the 30 seconds, the result is always a short message telling me of a abnormal program termination and a try to reset the machine, after that the PC freezes and I can only power it off. After that the pc will not boot from the osx I just installed. I if leave the dvd and boot from there I can select from the darwin boot loader what system i want to start and there´s only the dvd listed no hdd.

Without the dvd the systems runs through the whole boot post of the pc but after that it just stops and leaves me with a blinking cursor, no freeze, no boot, no error message, no prompt.

The only thing I got was after the my last try giving me the "b0 error" after booting the pc, than it just stops. So I don´t even have the possibility to load the osx from my hardrive with the -v option for further error messages it´s almost as if the hdd is not even recognized after boot up, it show us probably in the bios and the osx installer can install and copy the files to the harddrive without any hassles so it definitly works.

I also tried shutting of all on board stuff like network, sata support and ac97 sound to make sure they won´t affect osx at this point, still to no success at all. The result is always the same.

Any clues on how I should proceed or what could be the problem?

Allright, I figured that problem out myself, I used the wrong method for partitioning the harddrive, after doing that right like explained around here I get the harddrive to boot up properly. Unfortunately, that took me directly to the next problem. OSX ist crashing on my with a kernel panic and stops with mentioning "com.apple.geforce", making me believe that osx won´t accept my onboard geforce 6150 chipset from the nforce 430 mainboard.

I remember reading on one of the hardware compatiblities lists that this chipset / mainboard needs some further patching for osx to make it work on the hardware but has been tested to generally work on it. Does anyone know what patching needs to be done and where I can obtain the neccessary files? I´m rather clueless at the moment and really want to give the OSX a try to run native on my machine. I tested it in vmware 6.0 beta and it works rather well already there, but is somewhat slow to really work on it.

Thanks for any tips!
