So, i'm new here, and Ive obtained a copy of jas's 10.4.8, and i havent installed it yet, however, im just wondering if i should go ahead with it, or do i need to patch anything first, and which ones:

you really should be fine with that setup. wireless and sound might not work at first, but barely any of them do out of the install. check the HCL, http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8 , for components and you might even be on the portable one, http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...0.4.8/Portables . but just check those over and you should be good. most parts that require extra steps have links to a forum with that info.
