CaptDistraction
My partition info: DISKPART> list partition Partition ### Type Size Offset ------------- ---------------- ------- ------- Partition 1 OEM 47 MB 32 KB Partition 2 Primary 61 GB 48 MB Partition 3 Primary 14 GB 61 GB id=af for partition 3 Volume ### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info ---------- --- ----------- ----- ---------- ------- --------- -------- * Volume 1 E disk0s3 HFSJ Partition 14 GB Healthy Whenever I install and its marked the active partition, I get "HFS+ Partition Error". When I have partition 2 active, Windows Vista Boots fine. I've tried the copy chain0 to vista and edit the vista bootloader to run osx, however I get the looping bootloader where it keeps kicking back. Partition 1 is the dell diagnostics partition. Maybe there's something to that. I've googled and searched the forum, but I've had no luck. On my old desktop, I had no trouble installing earlier releases of OS-X and dual booting, but I think I used acronis for a while, after encountering the same issue. DiaboliK
As for your HFS+ partition error please refer to the TopazBar's tutorial on how to correctly set your partition using terminal and an install disk. CaptDistraction
I tried that with no success. I'll try it again, and if no luck: Had no problem in the terminal editing and no errors when applying/writing the mbr info (the vista of course required the repair, but I only repaired it once I had tried over and over to get os-x to boot. I am going to try again from the top: delete and write over hfs partition create unallocated space, assign new partition of 14gigs, id=af set active start installer for os-x 10.4.7 (I don't have the patched 10.4.8 for disk util) prep the hfs partition in disk util restart with 10.4.8 disc install with my specific options. At that point, it should reboot. I know I need to edit my boot.plist to change the number of cores to 1. I'll do that. The rest should be with those guides. If it doesn't fly, I'll completely hose the disk and start with osx first. DiaboliK
my trick into dual boot perfectly with darwin is: erase disk and make partitions with disk utility via and install disk. one Mac OS Formatted (make it the first partition) now on the second partition make it FAT32 formatted. once that is done dont install mac and exit installer. pop in your windows install disk and install make sure its not vista it funks everything up with its boot loader. make you windows install al the way you want it. now reboot and install mac to you intial mac formatted partition you made before hand. once that is done edit your com.apple.Boot.plist to have <key>Timeout</key> <string>XX</string> (XX being the # of seconds you wnat for darwin to have boot selection active) and you should bee perfectly fine w/o HFS+ errors Edited February 13, 2007 by DiaboliK Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42203-another-hfs-partition-error-thread/#findComment-301661 Share on other sites
