James Watt
SOLVED! My information: Host Bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller (rev 03) (Also VGA and Display Controller) USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) PCI Bridge: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller ISA: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) LPC Interface Bridge (Also IDE and SMBus) Wifi: Atheros AR5005G 802.11abg NIC Ethernet: Realtek Semiconductor Co, RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ Cardbus: ENE Tech CB1410 Cardbut Controller Manufacturer: Acer Model: Travelmate 2420 Problem: After the Apple logo comes up with the gray screen, it shifts to the blue screen and then never gets any further. Mouse cursor doesn't appear, login window doesnt appear. Nothing. Just sits there. Install ISO: Filename: JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3.Defiant diskutil fix.iso MD5 Hash: 073eb015d77bbf5e4a97d0d37ceb3855 According to #JaS.DVD's title, this is the latest release. Packages: I looked up the 915GM and it seems that I use the GMA 900 video drives. So when I go through the install I select the Intel package at the top, and then these packages: GMA 900 Loginwindow Intel only Laptop bundle of some sort at the bottom After the install, it doesn't boot. Am I selecting the wrong options? Should I be selecting something else? The only things I'm not sure about are the Loginwindow and the Laptop bundle. The laptop bundle really bothered me because it had a description of ATI or something like that, which I don't have, but I figured it may have been incorrectly labeled. Other Options I have tried: Selecting everything except the AMD top patch. Selecting GMA 900 and the Laptop bundle without the Login window patch What else I've done: I tried pressing F8 and using -v, but everything scrolls so fast and eventually just disappears. If there was a way to interactively boot up, where it says a message and i press a button to have it load the next thing, that would be great. If someone could tell me the command to do that if it exists I would appreciate it. What I'm doing now: Installing again using Loginwindow Patch and GMA900 patch. NOT using the laptop bundle patch this time. Solution: Do not install ANY of the additional packages besides the Intel ATA patches! Boots up fine now!!!! I added it to the HCL: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph..._.28Notebook.29 Edited February 12, 2007 by James Watt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42087-system-information-tried-installing-numerous-times-wont-boot-after-install/ Share on other sites
i.Silver
James Watt: Does your ENE CB1410 actually work? Is it tested? I re-downloaded my 10.4.8. Turns out I was using a Beta v2 before. Anyway, everything is reinstalling fine. Audio works this time without repairing permissions, and USB works off the bat. Display worked as generic, too, but now I'm installing the GMA 900 package. The only reason why I did the reinstall is because I want my Cardbus to actually work. My laptop doesn't have Firewire, but I just want to use it for Logic. Silver SOLVED!
