lightingdude
I have encountered 2 issues with my installation, after completing the install process the computer tells me that it need to reboot and i can wait or click reboot, after either it goes to a screen that says a couple lines the last being MACH reboot. And then it just sits there no reboot. So i power off manually and power back only to encounter my second problem DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. i cant even get to darwin to see if she goes, i tried selecting the startup disk from the installer utilities menu but encounter the same prob with the restart because it wont trigger the actual restart! I have my SATA drives with XP disconnected and have only 1 PATA IDE Drive connected for this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. system specs are E6600 conroe EVGA 680i SLI 2GB Corsair DDR EVGA 7950GT KO 512MB SB not so-FI Platinum lightingdude Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42047-boot-failure/ Share on other sites
BMC6053
The first is an ACPI prob, the second is you need to set active your disk or somthing along those lines. If your dual booting its easy in XP - just fdisk, select disk #, select partition # and type ACTIVE. Otherwise maybe the install didn't bless anything correctly - simply do a fresh install. Other things to consider: make sure drive is master or at least on your first ide bus thingy, try different bios settings for your acpi prob (most likely it wont go away). lightingdude
thanks for the info! i have encountered a new problem i replugged my XP drive and it wont get all the way into windows... goes to windows loading screen the goes to the disk function screen and says autochck program not found or something along those lines and then auto reboots same for all modes of XP startup!?! How can i set the OSX disk as active without xp and fdisk? the drive is the master on the ide connection with the dvd drive as slave. i have tried a fresh install and still no go... also i tried every possible option for ACPI in bios, still no reboot like you said BMC i guess it wont go away. oh well the button works fine!
