I installed the JaS OSX 10.4.8 and everything worked fine until after the installation completed and I rebooted my system (Dell D810 w/ATI x600). The grey apple screen comes up and then a welcome video plays just fine (although it takes up only about half the screen) but then the screen just gets scrambled (except for the mouse pointer). I attached a picture of the screen. Any thoughts?

What disk are you using? Also what all are you selecting in the custom package selection? try to reformat your partition using the disk utility, then reinstall with only the packages you need like the x600 support and which ever kernel you choose but dont install the 10.4.8 combo update. Once its finished installing it will boot with a kernel panic, dont worry though just restart the install. This time select only the combo update. hopefully this will work for ya.

Listen:

I've moved (or delete) all Intel .kext from /System/Library/Extension to a backup folders, removed Extensions.kextcache and Extension.mkext and now it boots OK (normal mode)

Then reinstaled GMA950 support from JAS 10.4.7 DVD and now have Core Image and Quartz Extreme Supported Great!

I read this from another post.
