kroeger
Hi, Have been reading this forum for ages before building my next hackintosh. I need to have rock solid stability for this box and have decided on the following parts: Intel Core2 Duo Conroe 2.4 ghz Asus P5W DH Deluxe Wifi Geil PC6400C4 800mhz 2GB kit 256MB Gigabyte Radeon X1650 Pro PCI-E (x16) 12 Pipes 1386 MHz GDDR3 587 MHz Dual DVI-I HDTV Retail Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache NEC AD7170S Serial ATA 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter Akasa Mirage 62 Aluminium Case Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU Will be using this with: BenQ FP241W - flat panel display - TFT - 24" Please let me know if all this will work fine with 10.4.8, I think it will, but am most concerned with the graphics card (looking at the HCL list this seems the card that needs the least work after install) Any tips or opinions welcomed, as I hope to order the parts tomorrow. kroeger
Anyone? Please I need to order tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Was perhaps thinking Bad Axe 2 would be better but don't know whether the audio problem has been resolved. Starscr3am
Hi Great specs but first check your components before buying try searching this site or @ google also try the osx wiki!! http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page helped for me! I know also that the BFG 7600GT OC works in OSX86 with Titan patch! kroeger
Thanks, do you think the bad axe 2 would be better than the Asus? I have read the Bofors thread where he used one and he could not get audio to work whereas everything except wireless can be made to work on the asus. Is 10.4.8 stable on a hackintosh i.e. good enough for a workstation doing serious work? Also it is not that I haven't read the wiki or forum , but where there is a lot of money at stake, I guess I am just looking for some reassurance. Human Nature I suppose. Starscr3am
If you are worried about the money and you need reasurance buy a real mac OSX is a great OS and workstation all te designers and movie music makers have one. OSX86 on AMD or Intel isnt for newbies you need to know alot about hardware and installing patches and so on. kroeger
hi, i don't mind spending time installing patches as I used to play around in Linux. I have previously built a hackintosh using a prescott and intel 915GEVL board that worked ok. What I need to know is if the system once up and running is solid and stable without crashing all the time. When I was using my previous hackintosh it was not very stable.
