Shadow Root
We. i need some help. I have the same problem of BRiseagainst I installed 10.4.6 (booted from DVD) and was able to use Disk Utility to format the drive and then install onto it with no errors. When I finished the install (on all attempts) the computer would not reboot by itself, it said: Processing Completed MACH Reboot and just sat there, so I rebooted manually. Upon rebooting and booting from the drive I just installed to, the system starts, POSTs, and then just sits at a black screen and blinks an underscore at me forever. Nothing happens, no error messages, just a blinking underscore and a black screen. I tried to disable the SATA controller and that didnt do anything. I have also installed using VMware with the same results. I try clean the partition table in the master boot sector but the problem still there. Please help us. killboredom
I have the exact same message after installation tries to reboot and I get the blinking "-" if I set the BIOS to boot priority to my IDE drive (Mac OS X drive) over my SATA (Vista drive). So far I have yet to get OS X to boot. Henben248
I think the real problem is that we are using the INTEL SSE ONLY iso version of Jas 10.4.8 instead of the amd/intel/..etc version which is newer: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...;hl=defiant+fix There's a fix for this boot problem, but I think we first have to aqquire the newer iso. chrisz
I fixed my problem the hard way. i didn't realize it untill i hit the button. When i installed the first time, i did the Erase of my HD and it made an untitled partition so i thought i was all set. Well after install i got the blinking _ and black screen then i posted here. Well i booted back to install and i was looking at my disk utility and i hit erase again, but then i went to the partition section and i noticed there was a 200MB partition at the front of my drive. My guess is that the first install was trying to boot to that. So make 1 single partition and re-installed. All is well now, and everything booted. My Next task is configuration. My Laptop Specs are as Follows, it was my test machine. Sony Vaio PCG-FRV25 (i know it's OLD) Pentium 4 2.66GHz 512MB RAM 40GB Hd ATI Radeon X200 IGP Mac OS X JaS 10.4.8 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41565-after-good-instalation-nothing-on-boot/#findComment-331528 Share on other sites
