digitard
Okay, I'm not at home so bare with me if some of this info is slightly misconstrued because I dont have the exact versions in front of me. I was installing the JaS 10.4.8 AMD + INTEL release mentioned in the osx86project page as working with my DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D board. I popped my DVD in and after a ton of text went through installing little things it went to the trusted OSX installation screen. I have an extra 60gig ATA133 drive (WD I believe) drive in my PC I use as my "oh {censored}" backup drive. I decided to drop OSX86 on it until I find another SATA cable for my extra 160gig drive laying around (after 4 mobo's with SATA I know its around somewhere, just gotta find it). Anyhow. I set it to erase the drive, and started the installation. It was in the installation progress and I walked away figuring it'd take a bit since my DVD burner is out I'm using a backup DVD ROM drive thats slow as {censored}. I came back about an hour later and it was on a black text screen (similar to the one seen during startup of the boot disc) and it says "UMH reboot" or something liek that on the bottom. Now here's where the "wtf" portion comes in, and pretty much all the other stuff is just "what happened til". When I came back and saw that locked up screen with restart/reboot I couldn't CTRL+ALT+DEL so I just soft reset. My BIOS screen came up. My drives displayed and then it froze. I power cycled again pulling the power plug for a second first and no resolution. I jumpered the mobo to clear the bios back to default and same thing after. Finally I unplugged my HDD and my system boots normal. I plug it back in and it locks at the drive detection screen. This didn't happen til I installed the OSX86 disk. Any ideas on what happened? Ub3r Sold4t
i have basically the same problem. the installation completes for me and after the restart it freezes after detecting the drives. the only resolution i found is unplugging the drive (i have 3 so its not a problem) then i deleted the partition using an external drive... Hope that was helpful at all. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41504-okay-this-makes-no-sense-install-issue/#findComment-296953 Share on other sites
digitard
I'm sure I can find a way around it locking, or hot swapping it or something, to format it and wipe it again using disk manager.... my main concern is if I try this on my SATA II drive (the one I plan on keeping OSX86 on) will it happen again?
