Guest IanP
Kernal panics are rarely caused because the kernal is having a bad day. Most of the time it is caused by the packages that were installed in the installation. (I know this applies to Jas.10.4.8.AMD.INTEL.SSe2.SSe3, but it may work for other versions.) Intel Packages required for install: Base OS package (unselectable, has to be installed) 10.4.8.intel (Labeled as 8.8.1 Kernal in Install) 10.4.4.loginwindow (This is not required, but it will fix some crashing) AMD Packages needed: Base OS package (unselectable, has to be installed) 10.4.8.amd (Also labled as 8.8.1 kernal, but it clearly says AMD instead of Intel) Make sure you install these to get it working!
