Hi there,

I'm absolutely new to Mac OS. I would like to install Jas 10.4.8 Image on my Thinkpad x40. The problem is, that my laptop has no dvd-drive. Is there a way to install it without buying one with a usb connector? I have cd-drive to connect by usb. There also is a Linux PC with a DVD-Drive.

I thougt of copying the files out of the .iso on a formated usb-hdd.

But I cant't find any information on google what to write down to the mbr. Is it possible or does anyone have another idea?

Or maybe there is a kind of boot cd, so I could connect to the DVD-Drive of my Linux-box over the network...

I'm very looking forward to get any suggestions...

Thanks a lot, resol.

Hey BeeMeR,

thanks for your quick reply! Unfortunately I don't have an Image of MacOS to copy. I would like to use the newest build 10.4.8 with Jas installation DVD. So the problem is that I cant just copy an already existing partition image because I dont have one.

But I read by searching with google, that there must be a way by using the dd command to copy the extracted .iso to a usb-hdd and boot with it. But I dont exactly know how to do it.

Many thanks, resol.
