Yotam
Hi, I've got deadmoo 10.4.1 to work and finally found a realtek NIC that is supported. I configured the network, but still can't enter websites. The computer is connected to a 3Com router which I can ping, but cannot access its homepage through OSX (it IS accessible from other computers on the network). This router is connected to the internet via an ADSL (PPPoE) modem it is connected to. It is not a connection problem since I can ping sites. For example, www.google.com replys with no problem. However, I cannot enter google.com in Safari or Camino (Firefox crashes anyway...). It seems like the browsers start loading the page but then stop. They don't write any error message like they would do if there was no connection. Camino writes in the bottom status bar "Waiting for www.google.com..." but it would not change. Also, I tried to traceroute www.google.com but it doesn't seem to work. I get my router address in the first row and then asterisks in the next rows. I also tried to connect the computer directly to the modem, but nothing has changed. It was exactly the same. Thank you for any help! CoolBits
First of 10.4.1 is obsolete and most apps will not work on that... get 10.4.8 For internet to work you must put your dns servers in prefs... Yotam
Thanks coolbits, I did put my DNS servers in the prefs, forgot to mention that. I've got another reply in the other forum about changing the MTU and will give it a try later today. However, can I upgrade OSX without losing the configs i've already made? How do I do that? What filename should I look for, for upgrade and/or for new installation? Thanks again!
