energy_One
After a seemingly successful install through VMWare of the 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE 2/3, I noted down the information about ./patcher. First, a normal boot from the OSx86 partition gets to Loading x86 Darwin, then seems to panic and tell me to restart the computer. When I try this same process, instead virtually on VMWare, it tells me that the virtual OS is turning off my processor, an AMD Athlon 64 3000+. Odd. Not sure the implication, but I'm fairly certain I don't have a dual core processor, and so I wonder if the kernel panic has to do with something else... something called ACPI, maybe? I wonder this, as when I tried to fix the problem by holding F8, typing -v -s, no luck. A kernel panic that gives me a little more information. The same screen, I believe, when I type -v -s -x. Again. Huh? I'm posting a screenshot below. If more information is needed, please let me know. I feel like I'm on the verge of getting at least booted into the system. (Note, the part cut off of the screenshot, near the middle, mentions ACPI being unrecognized.) I apologize for what may be a redundant thread, but honestly, I find sifting through this forum in search impossible (that, or I'm making poor queries). Should I just try reinstalling with a different iso? I'm not certain that's the problem but I'm fairly confident I should at least be able to get myself booted into OS X. Could different, newer cables help with an "ACPI" problem? A little confused is to where to turn next. Are there boot options I'm missing? energy_One
The best I could do here was going into the computer, switching the drive with the OS X partition on it to IDE1 rather than IDE2, and then I got it to boot further. With new problems, of course.
