Hi there,

I have an Alienware M7700 Mobile workstation with a Promise SATA378 SCSI Controller.

This is a very strange setup indeed, infact I called and complained to alienware about it the otherday because they put a normal IDE hardrive in my system with a converter to SCSI. My system does not allow for any other type of internal drive connection and I have tried many times to get a usb hard drive to boot without success.

I've managed to install OS X with VMware which treats my scsi controller like a typical IDE, but I would really like to get this running natively. When I try to but up without VMware the boot sequence hangs at "waiting for root device" which is to be expected since it can't see the hard drive. However, I really am so close to getting this to work I just need some help from some people with unix and linux skills.

I am attaching the sourcecode of the controller drivers for linux. I don't know enough about unix and linux to know how to make them work with Mac OSX. I have read on the forums that other people with the same alienware system have had this problem too, but haven't found a solution. If someone could please assist me I would be most appreciative.

Thank You All
