Some questions regarding SATA and ATI

Hey all

I have done 4 test installations with MAC OSX JAS 10.4.8 and till now only 1 worked (sort of).

 

1. I did installation on my personal PC and it installed in 15 mins and worked perfectly except that the audio and cable modem driver was not found. The integrated audio is something like Realtek AC'97 which I think works but I have to change drivers or something like that. The second is cable modem which is Motorola SURFboard® Cable Modem SB4200 which has both Ethernet and USB connectivity. When I installed MAC it was connected through USB so I will try connecting that with Ethernet connection to see if it works. If anyone has already tried that please let me know. MAC looks great on PC and just takes 30 seconds to strat up whereas a newly installed windows takes around 1 minute to load on the same system

 

2. This time I tried installing on a test PC at my workplace. The motherboard is Intel® Desktop Board D101GGC I tried installing on a normal IDE harddisk. The installation took a very long time (8 hours) but after installation the white Apple screen came and a small cursor was rotating at the bottom. That is where it gets stucked and after a few minutes the system turns off. The motherboard has got Integrated ATI Radeon X300 graphics so I thought that can be a problem.

 

3. Next I tried installation on the same test PC but this time I used a SEAGATE 120Gb SATA harddisk which was not detected at all by the OSX setup. Anyone knows what the reason can be?

 

4. I gave the SATA harddisk to my friend to check on his personal system. Setup detected the SATA harddisk so it means the harddisk is fine. Now his installation also went fine but when the installation finished and the system restarted at the same white apple screen the graphics were not good and he said there are white lines on the screen and the system restarts. This I also think is a graphics related problem but he is having a very good card that is ATI Radeon X1300 PIC-Express.

 

So these are all the problems I faced. If anyone can help me with these I would be very thankful. Keep up the good work.
