Adrian Fogge
Being the noble minded tester that I am, I decided to pick up a Copy of the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler and load it up on my Macbook Pro 17" C2D and my iMac 24" C2D. As I do not currently have an 802.11n Base Station, I did the next best thing... Bridging the Ethernet Port to the Airport and using the iMac as the Base Station. One minor problem. When the Macbook Pro connected, it was limited to 54Mbps. When I enabled the Macbook Pro as the Base station, I was limited at 144Mbps on both sides. Extremely odd. Hopefully this is a problem with the Enabler sitting on top of 8P2122, but I guess we will see in a few days as more reports come in. Also, it would be nice to see how things fair once we get the actual Base Station avaliable. I know that an Ad-Hoc network under XP with 802.11n drivers will get throughput at 300Mbps. yomommanow
well i doubt that you'll get 300Mbps actual throughput since actual vs real for any network usage is normaly around the 70% mark. i know my mac gets higher usage then my windows computers do though... [Moderator edit - sorry but we can't be seen to promote piracy here, so the links had to go. I know it's hard, but those are the rules.] edit: nvrmnd... i just realized that n is 540Mbps max... so 300 should be doable. guess we'll have to see what the base station will do... Adrian Fogge
All of those figures are based on what both OS X and Windows claim that the link is running at, not sustained throughput. quick qustion though... how did u detemine that ur gettin 300Mbps usage in win? on my home (wired) network i run gigabit and most i ever see is about 20% or around 200Mbps.
