gebbie
I am going to start installing osX86 this weekend. But the 1 thing i havnt really been able to decide is if I need to install a 'Norton for Mac' or something? thats essentially the reason i'm leaving in windows, its so slow with all my virus/spyware checkers installed. some say. no, others yes. So do i need to install anything on an osx86? I dont want spyware/keyloggers/virus infecting me so any recommendations would be gratefully received. I dont install dodgy files/emails but I am concerned about the norton popups if i goto a dodgy site. I dont know what it blocked, but if i returned to the same site with osX86 am i safe? What about if i need to use IE on a specifcly poorly made site, am i still safe from the bad guys? oh. I still need a x86 firewall dont I.... the inbuilt one is good?yes? big thanks steven Edited January 30, 2007 by gebbie Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40483-do-i-need-to-install-security/ Share on other sites
psionic68
I would not bother with Norton - It causes more problems then its worth. The inbuilt firewall is fine. If anything tries to alter your system you will be prompted for your administrator password or it won't continue. OS X is inherantly far more secure then Windows. No need to mention that almost all malware out there takes advantages on flaws in Windows/Internet Explorer.
