voidi
Hey guys, I have downloaded Mac OSX 10.4.8, JaS install DVD and burned it. Booted, installed, after installing it says "You must restart your pc" in 4 different languages with a grey background coming up. Before that i got something like "acpi no supported" or something like this, i am sorry, i didn't/don't get the message any longer. Then i thought, give the ppf patch a try and downloaded that, patched the original, burned it, installed it, same thing. "You must restart your pc" comes up after i reboot, over and over again. Is there a way to fix that. It has been discussed here before but not with a solution. intel core duo 1,6 ghz, 1 gb ram, x1600, 80 gb hdd Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40465-you-must-restart-your-computer-kernel-panic/ Share on other sites
dvornik
Have you selected any options in the umm.. installation options? Somehow I went through both issues you're describing. Eventually the successfull installation was the one where I figured out what options I needed to choose. Plus, I tried several DVDs... lord_muad_dib
exactly, and use -v to see the problem Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40465-you-must-restart-your-computer-kernel-panic/#findComment-289045 Share on other sites
voidi
Of course i checked the intel checkbox and also the "drivers for most common hardware" checkbox. And when i tried the patched DVD i also checked x1000 drivers. I don't know how -v helps me find more about the problem since there is no console when the described error happens. Did you hear that it worked for someone in the end after kept beeing confronted with this error? Also, if it works in VMWare, can you be sure it works native, because i tried to install jas dvd 3 times for now and since this is my only computer (laptop with 1 hdd) and i need it for school and stuff it is kind of complicated and eats too much time. edit: I forgot to tell that i am writing this under windows xp at the moment so osx is not on the hdd anymore. dvornik
"Drivers for most common hardware" could be the problem. You only need to select the ones you know you need (I needed Natit dual monitor drivers for Nvidia dual monitors as it turned out) . Like I said I had both errors you've mentioned and it all worked eventually. voidi
No. The options tree with the checkboxes looks as following: JaS Intel Jas Amd Drivers for common hardware Nvidia Ati So you see, the nvidia drivers are not part of the drivers for common hardware tree/package. I remember that i didn't have any option i could have choosen in the Drivers for common hardware package because there is no further tree of that. dvornik
Oh. The DVD I used successfully had a more detailed optoions tree... Like, you could select some soundcard drivers etc...
