guilliamo
Belkin makes a slick little (smaller than a deck of cards) multi-purpose wireless gizmo that can be used as a wireless adapter, router, or access point. See <http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=203404>. In the "adapter" mode (set via a 3-position switch on the back), it connects to your computer via Ethernet, and needs power from either an AC adapter or USB cord (both included). While Belkin doesn't claim any Mac compatibility, the easy setup uses your browser (I used Safari) and just works with ANY OS and 802.11b/g signal as long as your Ethernet port works. Sample setup screen attached. The only negative I've found so far is that the F5D7233's small antenna is not removable, and there is not any provision for any other antenna. On the other hand, you CAN position the F5D7233 wherever you like for best signal...limited only by the length of Ethernet & power cables. Pluses for hackintosh folk: No worry about wireless card chipsets or patches, it just works on ANY OS or OS version as long as you have a working Ethernet connection and browser. Also if you are on a laptop, your PC Card slot remains available for other adapters (Firewire, USB 2.0, flash memory cards, etc, etc.). List price is USD $70, but froogle for better prices. I've added the reader's digest version to the WIKI, under 10.4.8. :pirate2: G Edited January 29, 2007 by guilliamo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40394-another-wireless-option-belkin-f5d7233/ Share on other sites
