I've installed OSx86 (from the JaS 10.2.8 image) on my Dell Latitude D520. The Airport card is working with a fix that i found in the forums.

The only problem that remains now is the ethernet card. I might have found the answer to this problem too but i formatted my HD and installed OS X before checking my computer's hardware (the original documentation is 2 continents away) and i've been checking Dell's website to find out stuff like the make of the airport card, etc.

But Dell lists the ethernet card simply as "10/100 Ethernet network interface adaptor" and so I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, any other D520 owners looking to install OSx86, i report that everything went smoothly and i was able to run it fine after disabling multicore. Unsupported hardware - wireless, ethernet.

Knoppix, Ubuntu, ... any live linux CD

That should give ya your info that you need. Look online for how to find hardware info in the specific flavor you choose.

Good idea. I've got a bunch of live cds lying around. Will try them.

BTW, another problems cropped up. None of my USB & FireWire ports are working. Also, I am not able to wake it up from standby mode (when i close the screen of the laptop and open t again)

I'm pretty sure there's an answer somewhere on this forum but (not to be rude or anything) the search function is absolutely horendous.

Anyways, If anybody knows how to fix non working USB & FireWire ports and stnadby mode, please help. Until then, I will continue my searching.

Try the Apple USB update in my sig. If that doesn't work then I think you'll just have to search for solutions appropriate to your hardware.
