Clayman
Hey guys, Now, I've been pretty successful installing OSX86 on my Asus P5b Deluxe. I've got one of the Network Cards working (thanks to the skge.kext, no Wifi though), the Onboard Sound working (Only Sound OUT though, so no Microphone) and the JAS 10.4.8 Intel Reseed even works with my JMicron IDE Controller. Strangely, the newer JAS Version won't work with it anymore. I've tried the tutorials for the 10.4.8 here, trying to edit the AppleVIAATA kext, but to no avail. Once I'm done putting the new strings into the kexts, the system will give me the kernel panic "Still waiting for root device" whether I'll be booting with IDE or AHCI. Since Windows has been isntalled on IDE (and I can't install it with AHCI turned on, getting bluescreens in the installer, even with the drivers on the motherboard CD), booting OSX using AHCI definitely wouldn't be the best option. Another of the bigger problems I have is the GPU. The problem is that I have a MSI 7900 GTO - 512mb, not working with Natit or Titan, just getting black screens all the time. So, I even thought about buying a Sapphire X1950XT 256mb (512mb isn't working with ATI either, right?), but I'd really love to use the Nvidia for Windows, whereas I'd put the ATI card into the second PCIe slot - is that possible? I figured that, if the ATI doesn't boot when loading Windows and the Nvidia doesn't boot when loading OSX, things should turn out well enough, right? But I'm no hardware guy and I'm sure that putting the ATI into the second PCIe slot could cause some serious trouble with Natit or Titan. I haven't read about that issue anywhere here yet, maybe because it's obvious that it would cause some trouble, but I wouldn't know. So, I'd be really glad to get some directions. I'd love to get my Asus P5b Deluxe Wifi machine working with XP and OSX. dvornik
I'm afraid I can't be of much help, just want to share my experience with the same board. I couldn't use Jmicron during any 10.4.8 installations, with several versions of DVD. I booted from a USB drive (with a PATA/USB adapter). I never had any problems with XP and AHCI - just used drivers floppy from Intel. My 7600GT works with the dualhead Natit from the installation DVD. Once I installed OS without Natit and downloaded it separately. It only gave me one functional monitor. One of the installations did screw up my videocard - I think I selected several video drivers at once and there was some conflict. I couldn't figure out onboard LAN yet. I use an add-on card that worked out of the box. I managed to fix sound output and have a functional microphone in a logitech USB webcam with macam drivers. In windows I don't see a problem adding one more graphics card. Don't know about OS X. dvornik
Allright, fixed one network port with skge.kext, thanks for pointing that out. Now the only problems is that it hangs on shutdown/reboot and won't come out of standby. I can live with it though.
