SoaDMTGguy
Is it possible to install OS X onto a RAID array on an Intel Matrix RAID controller? If so, how? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40313-os-x-on-intel-matrix-raid/ Share on other sites
kszo
I have a GA-P35-DS4 and I'm looking for the same thing. I have 4 500GB HDD on Raid0 & Raid5 using the ICH9R Matrix Raid controller. Many movies and music I would like to access. I can see my drives separately but I don't even want to touch it. I don't want to break the files in the Raid. lsdelirious
Ideally I'd like to install OSX on my Intel Matrix 4x320GB RAID 0 setup, but even just to have it recognize the 4 disks as a single partition to read and write from would be nice... PBear.SF
I've just run into the same problem after installing OS X 10.6 according to wmarsh's guide -- except for installing it to an external USB drive -- which worked perfectly, except for this. My Windows 7 install is on the internal RAID 1 drive array -- which is showing up in Finder and Disk Utility as two separate SATA drives. Now that I know OS X works, I'd like to move (restore) it to a second, empty partition on my hard drive array. I'm afraid of messing things up, though. If I restore my OS X partition to just one of the hard drives that shows up in Disk Utility, will the controller freak out when I reboot and it sees that Partition 2 of my hard drive array isn't mirrored? Or will it be mirrored? Or will Intel Matrix Storage Manager repair the drives after I boot back into Windows? If it does that, then I guess it will do it every time I boot back into Windows after running OS X -- because there will always have been changes to one of the drives if OS X isn't recognizing them as mirrored. Ack! What to do? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40313-os-x-on-intel-matrix-raid/#findComment-1434804 Share on other sites
