Hi guys

I'm trying the 1046 hotiso image on my BenQ Joybook 7000 (Dothan 1.6Ghz, 855+ICH4, SSE2, 1GB DDR333, 60GB 7200rpm ATA drive, Mobility Radeon 9600, 14.1" 1280x768 display)

I partitioned my hard disk using GParted as following:

- Primary 1st: NTFS (Windows XP) 40GB

- Primary 2nd EXT3 (Fedora Core 6) 7GB

- Primary 3rd Linux Swap 230MB

- Primary 4th FAT32 (for Tiger install) 10GB

Boot Manager: GRUB Stage2, configured to partition 1,2 and 4. Used "makeactive" flag for each menu entry.

Installed the system with no problems, by selecting Ad Hoc configuration and checked these packages:

- 10.4.6 Combo Update (it says it will install SemJaZa 1.2 Decrypted system files)

- Intel SSE2 CPU

- 10.4.6 Radeon Mobility Support

- Wireless Networking Support

Unfortunately when rebooting after installation, the Darwin boot loader starts correctly after selecting it from GRUB, but the system hangs. The verbose output is here: link

Please note that I have tried to overwrite mach_kernel with mach_kernel.intel found into Maxxuss&something directory, and also to repair permissions and verify volume, both passed with success.

Is there anything I can try to make it booting? For example, by replacing mach_kernel file? Fsck command?

Or I just need the 3.71GB JaS 1.0.4.8 for AMD Intel SSE2 or SSE3?

Thank you for help, I'm a total n00b in these things but I want to be an InsanelyMac user :D

DOH! I tried the Jas 1.0.4.8 AMD/INTEL on the same notebook, and it doesn't even start the installation!!!

It hangs at the Synaptics touchpad detection, right before detection of the Intel ICH4 IDE controller.

Of course my insane idea to copy mach_kernel from 1.0.4.8 DVD using the 1.0.4.6 install doesn't work: it doesn't like disk swaps...

The 1.0.4.8 however is not corrupted: it starts correctly from another AMD machine (the fact it doesn't see SATA drive is another story)....

ANY CLUE? ^_^

Somone said that Dothan CPU has broken PAE support. Is there a way to force disabling it from darwin boot loader?

news: after the usual BSD root: disk0s4, major 14 minor 4 now it says:

jnl: replay_journal: from: 4448768 to: 5481472 (joffset 0x52000)

what does it mean?

Try blanking your disk, and having only one partition of type AF. Now reinstall OSX and see if it boots. Also try the latest JaS release of 10.4.8. I dont know the reliability of the HOTISO, but my 10.4.6 JaS works perfect-o, on all PC's I have tried.

ok, i'll swap the notebook hd with another one, otherwise it would required too much time to backup the whole thing

One question: I created a FAT32 partition, as read in some tutorial, then I formatted it with Disk Utility into Journaled HFS+, and recognized succesfully by the installer. I checked with Linux FDISK command and it's correctly set to AF type... is there anything wrong with this partition creation method?

Can I simply delete all partitions from the test hd and install as is or the partition creation must be necessarily created before installing?

I wonder what Mac user have to do if they need to swap their hd... :)

Unfortunately even an install on a fresh, completely free, hard disk didn't solve the problem, it hangs just when mounting the system volume. I got also the tubgirl version, I'll give it a try but have really no hope.

Does anyone have installed it on a 855/ICH4 laptop?
