I have a great gaming machine now, but half the hardware is incompatible, so I figure I'll just try it this way. Before I purchase my pieces though, I wanted to make sure everything was compatible and should work with little issues. Here is what I am looking to purchase: Intel Celeron D 351 3.2GHZ Socket 775 Processor w/EMT64 - $125.51 ASRock 775Dual-915GL Micro ATX Motherboard - $63.75 Rosewill 1GB (2 x 512MB) PC3200 - $75.99 Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive - $53.45 NEC ND-3540A 16X DVD+/-RW - $38.99 Zonet ZUB6111C USB Bluetooth Adapter - $20.00 Codegen Micro-ATX Mid Tower w/300W PSU - $35.50 Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse (eBay) - $63.00 Subtotal: $473.83 Shipping: $46.01 Grand Total: $519.84 I checked the HCL and have tried to match things as closely as possible. So what do you guys think? Will perofrmance be pretty good? Any problems I may be facing? Thanks! thrunner Posted November 1, 2005 Share Posted November 1, 2005 Looks good, but why not get the socket 775 versions of CPU and Mobo for about the same with 64 bit processor (Celeron D 331 or 336). The 331 was on sale for $69 free ship with negligible difference in performance vs D345. Ya, shipping is a bit high, before I actually purchase I will be going around price shopping to find lower shipping rates, for speed's sake I just compiled everything at Newegg. Also, can you recommend a good 775 board that has no comp. problems? ASRock 775Dual-915GL Micro ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813157073 is probably the cheapest and pretty good and comparable to what you got listed. All these mobos only have one IDE (PATA) channel, so you may be better off using a newer SATA drive instead of putting a DVDRW with a PATA drive on the same channel (bad idea). Agreed, I found a really good deal on eWiz for the Socket 775 version of the 351 w/EMT64. Also upgraded the motherboard and changed to a SATA hard drive. Any other suggestions?
