Greetings,

I have an AMD box with a Marvell Yukon NIC built on to the board. I've always had very bad luck with these NICs in Windows, so my issues in MacOS don't really surprise me..

Basically, network access to any machines on the LAN is extremely slow. For instance, if I connect to an SMB share, and copy a file, I get about 10k a second. On the LAN. From Windows, using an Intel NIC (but otherwise the same machine) I can copy the same file from the same file server at around 70 - 90 MBit. So, it's not the file server.

It's also not the MacOS samba stack, because I can copy to/from a virtual machine running in parallels at a decent speed. It's only when going out with this crappy Marvell Yukon.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

ps. Problem is also with HTTP, FTP, everything.

what it say in system profiler?

you may have a half way functioning driver.

my fix is linked to my sig.

and you may want to try switching off ipv6 in the network pref pane. (havent tired but, people said it works)

<key>Yukon-88E8053</key>

change to

<key>Yukon-88E8050</key>

and change

<string>Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8053</string>

to

<string>Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8050</string>

My card is an 88E001, so I should change those to 88E001 right?

I look at my network in system profiler and everything looks correct, the yukon 88E8001 is seen as en0. And aside from the slow network transfer from the Windows shared volume, everything else seems to work (internet and samba connection). I'm not sure if this is a Yukon driver or samba problem. Any ideas anyone?
