After reading a lot of usefull tips and tricks in this forum I still didn't manage to get my system up and running. It turns out that the installation of OS-X is very sensitive to small changes in both the bios and the configuration. I am convinced that it should be possible to get i working on my hardware since various other posts stat that they got it working on the same chipset.

I intend to create a howto for my config based on a MSI P965 mobo in this thread. Hopefully I will get enough response to get the machine working and others can profit from my struggle.

My Config looks like:

Mobo MSI P965 Platinum,

Intel Core Duo Processor E6400,

2 GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM,

Geforce 7950GT Grapics,

Onboard SATAII controller integrated ICH8R / JMicron JMB 361

320 GB SATAII Baracuda Hard Drive / Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS attached to ICH8R controller

Nec AD-5170A DVD player attached to JMicron Controller

Onboard networking realtek RTL 8111B

Onboard audio ICH8R

Onboard IEEE 1394 VIA 6308

PS2 Keyboard / USB mouse

So far I used the following version of Mac OS X86:

10.4.8 incl. v1p - JAS 10.4.8 AMD Intel sse2 sse3

Preferentially I would like to config my hard drives as a RAID0 config but if it does not work I can always add a seperate hd on the IDE or SATA controller.

How far did I get so far:

0) I switched off all the uncessary on board hardware

Onboard SATAII controller integrated ICH8R / JMicron JMB 361 both in IDE mode

Onboard networking realtek RTL 8111B swithed off

Onboard audio ICH8R switched off

Onboard IEEE 1394 VIA 6308 switched off

1) I booted the install DVD from an external USB DVD drive (I didn't get it running from the internal DVD player)

2) I installed OS-X, but ....

After I rebooted the system I get a grey screen with the apple and on top of it a black window asking me to reboot the system in several languages. After a reboot the same .........

Anyone any usefull comments on this attempt?

My questions are:

1) What packages do I need to select from the installation DVD?

2) Which BIOS setting should I use?

3) How do I get some more debugging information to track down the problem that prevents the system from booting

Thanks!

The progress in my struggle:

I've put on the verbose mode and found the following:

Nov 5 09:10:39 localhost kernel[0]: Titan: By omni, built November 4, 2006
Nov 5 09:10:39 localhost kernel[0]: Titan: Testing for NVidia card...
Nov 5 09:10:39 localhost kernel[0]: Titan: Found
Nov 5 09:10:39 localhost kernel[0]: Titan: All set, cross your fingers!

That made me suspisious about the nvidia 7950GT card and as it turns out so far no one has a solution or ?

Relevant information on this problem van be found in Titan/Natit crashes and burns with most 7950GT & 7900GT/GTO/GTX 512MB cards, System hard locks after Titan or Natit are run and/or Kexts edited"

Next steps

I installed OS-x once more but didn't install the nvidia drivers and .... whoops you can start running OS-X.

However you will get a standard VGA driver instead that works but has a few minor flaws. When can we expect a new driver?

Furtermore the network card doesn't work: Let's see what we can do about that.

Finally i got it working so here is what i did:

i was having problem with ACPI when trying to boot from the iatkos v 1.0i and r2 i was getting this ''extension ''com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform'' has immediate dependencies on com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components use only one style'' or ''extension ''com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_Platformplugin'' has immediate dependencies on com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components use only one style''

and i solve it thank god then all of you

what i did is downgrade My motherboard bios from latest online v1.8 to 1.6 and it fix my problem right away.

Hi,

I am currently trying to get a working version of 10.5.5 going using the Boot123 method. So far I have been able to get it up to 10.5.4 but I have no audio so not going to do an upgrade till I have all aspects working. I am having some problems with video as well with my dual monitors. Resolution wrong on one of them. Anyway I was just wondering what kexts you have had to load to get your systems working correctly.

I am also about to upgrade my bios to 1.8 and try a new reinstall to see if it works. I had previously put it back to 1.6.

MSI P965 Platinum

160 Gb WD HDD (Vista)

160 Gb Samsung (OS X)

2 x Asus DVD

GeForce 7600GT Video

4Gb Ram

Thanks all

I have installed iDeneb 10.5.5 on my p965 Platinum, it works great even with the 1.8 bios (I think because it uses Chameleon).

Just need to get my Soundblaster Augidy working....

I also have a P965 Platinum, but after installation iDeneb won't boot up (it hangs at the apple screen). What bios settings and patches did you select at the installation?

Have you been able to install iDeneb 1.3 (10.5.5) allready? I am having some issues with it.

I have been able to install a full working version (I think) using the above method with the exception of the on-board audio. As I use an Audigy 2 Soundcard this is not a worry as the Audigy2 drivers available on this forum fixed that in two seconds.

I was unable to get my system working with Bios 1.8 in any way. I obviously have moved back to Bios Version 1.6.

I have found that I must use the flag cpus=1 to boot the system. If I go into my bios settings and change "Execute Disable Bit" to Enabled I can then boot into 10.5.5 with no problems and it recognises the dual core cpu. My problem here is that after a couple of reboots the computer loses the keyboard on the boot process and will not let me into the Bios or to choose a boot drive, hence I can not boot into the Mac (using the F11 key to choose hard drive during boot process). This requires me to do a reset of bios.

I am yet to try this with a boot loader from Vistra to see if I don't have the problem.

I've had my MSI P965 Platinum up and running since 10.4.8. Currently, I used iAtkos 10.5.4i and then just followed the update instructions for 10.5.5. everything works except the front port for the headphone jack. The iAtkos disc automatically recognized my onboard sound and all the other drivers i needed were included on the disc. DVD drive needs to be hooked up to a SATA port, I believe, unless they've fixed the JMicron IDE boot issue. I'm currrently using the Toh 9.2 kernel and system.kext version 9.2. Hard drive is MBR, same physical drive as Vista. I use the Vista bootloader so VMWare will allow me to use the Boot Camp option. So basically, the only extra thing I had to do was buy and IDE to SATA adapter for my DVD drive. My video card is NVidia 7100GS and works perfectly with either Natit or NVinject. I also found it is best to use usb for keyboard & mouse rather than PS2 and also BIOS 1.6 is the only version that works properly. Hope this helps...

Hi !

I have a MSI P965 Platinum Rev. 2, 2 GB memory, E6300 Core2Duo and a Nvidia 7300 LE with 256 MB.

I had to downgrade to 1.6 Bios to install iAtkos v5i, it recognized everything, even sleep functionality works !, the only thing I had to tweak was the Video Card, in order to get it working fully on Hardware support.

I still have to tweak the sound card a little, front ports are not recognized yet, but I think it will be solved with the right codec.

Those are my 2 cents......

By the way, it works TERRIFIC !, BYE MICROSOFT !!!!!!!
