Strange issue.

Asus P5DL2-VM with Intel Gb LAN built in.

Jas 10.4.8

After booting up, the network is not functional. The link light is on but no outside connectivity.

If I remove the network cable for 5 seconds or so, then plug it back in, the network is active and normal.

So I have to boot, unplug the network cable, then re-plug in to get it to work.

Any thoughts on this? I have searched for an answer and see nothing on it.

Help appreciated.

I really dont think so. I am able to use it under Linux fine.

It works, just not on boot. When the OS is up and running, I pull out the cable, link light goes off, plug it back in, linklight back on and I am networked fine.

Anyone have any other ideas?

i have nearly the same problem with latest jas dvd. in network it says not connectet - the button is red, but i can go online and anything.

if i plugg of the lan and plug in, network is green and still working.

after reboot its red again, but still working - thats very strange...

I am also runing the 10.4.8 V1 Patch AMD/INTEL ( I have teh Intel Kernel )

Anyone else seenig this issue? Any ideas for a resolution.

If this is an issue, what is a perfectly supported network card under this release? I have a 3Com 3c905. How are those?

Any more thoughts on why the network weirdness is going on?

I have found this as well on my Intel d945 board with the latest 10.4.8ppf1 .. I did update my kernel and haven't had the issue when returning to the original kernel.. Maybe its a kernel issue.. Did you guys update your kernels?

I am running the kernel that came on the 10.4.8 V1 patch as you mention.

I dont know where to get the latest kernel or how to install it. Would you mind letting me know how and where?

If that fixes my problems, that would be GREAT.

Thank you!
