RahamanPatrick
Hey, I've managed to get my OSx86 install working and dual booting with Windows. There is one rather severe problem though. I use a PS/2 mouse and keyboard with USB Legacy turned off in BIOS and my mouse and keyboard work fine. The only problem is my USB ports are turned off. If I turn on Legacy in the BIOS my USB ports seem to work in OS X because my iPod starts charging as opposed to it just sitting there normally. When I turn Legacy on though, my mouse and keyboard stop working. Will not using PS/2 fix this? Can I use an adapter? (See Picture). Thanks. RahamanPatrick
Also, I would really like to avoid buying the adapter. So a fix in OS X would be preferable. It works in Windows and Linux. Macfan14
If you care for a protege's opinion, I'd recommend that you get the adapter, but only if you know that the USB ports really do function properly. RahamanPatrick
I care for any opinion, lol. The one thing I am concerned about though is how to test if they do really function. I have JaS's 10.4.8 cd but its not patched because I needed to keep natit. I know that the ports worked with the patched version. Any ideas on that? The only reason I used the un-patched version is because I didn't know how to install natit. They also work in the installer. RahamanPatrick
UPDATE - FIXED : I had to re-install the USB drivers. Then it worked perfectly. If you have this problem follow the steps below. Go to: Apple USB Developers Page Download the latest drivers for your version of OS X. Install the package that doesn't have the word log in it. After it installs reboot and the USB ports should work. This worked for me, I am running OS X 10.4.8 (the latest JaS release) and use a PS/2 mouse and a PS/2 keyboard. My thanks to user "TheBigBentley" for the link.
