BobOki
I was wondering if it is possible to hack a x1600 or better into a mac mini. Also, whats the feasibility of throwing a faster core duo in the machine as well? I want the biggest bang for my REAL mac buck. My hackintosh just doesn't cut it. Guest bikedude880
Dude, first off, the mini was never designed to be upgraded... hell... no mac except the Mac Pro was designed with that in mind. The heat alone from the Core 2 Duo would melt the system and adding in a graphics card is impossible... look at the size of that thing. In short: if you wanted to have an upgradeable system, you should have gotten a Mac Pro. Or better yet, stick with Windows if you can't handle static hardware configurations. U.C.
The GMA 950 is probably integrated thus no upgrades possible. Core 2 Duo, maybe, i think someone did do it successfully, as it generates less heat and needs less power than Core Duo. consolation
http://www.folklore.org/StoryView.py?proje...p;detail=medium This explains a LOT about why so many Apples are so friggin' impossibly hard to upgrade. Hey man, I am not asking a stupid loser newb question here. I am talking case modification for cooling, etcetc. If you are going to be so rude please show your way out of the community. The hack and macintosh community wishes to base itself as helpful nice people, not pretentious pricks. Yeah, I think the core 2 duo should produce less heat... but does apple solder the proccessors into the mini? If so that could cause problems. I guess I should also check the FSB to make sure it could handle it. For the car, I was wondering if the the video was in fact onboard, or if it was like minipci or a small plugin. If its either of those, then I can probably get a converter for pci-e to minipci or something similar. Either way, I am thinking of a major mod for the mini, and I think modding the mini to include a much better video card would increase its worth 10x fold.
