firebush05
I'm considering getting one of the new Core 2 Duo's called the e4300. Apparently it's pretty cheap, and overclocks better than most other Core 2 Duos. It doesn't however have Intel Virtualization Technology (VT) like the e6### series. Is this needed for OSX86? It also only has 2mb of cache, but I doubt that's a problem. To read about this chip, here's anandtechs overclocking review... http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2903 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/39154-is-vt-needed-for-osxcore2duo/ Share on other sites
jeenam
No. VT is for virtualization, e.g. VMWare and Zen. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/39154-is-vt-needed-for-osxcore2duo/#findComment-279118 Share on other sites
firebush05
No. VT is for virtualization, e.g. VMWare and Zen. Thanks. That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure before making a purchase. Still not sure which Core2Duo to buy yet though... munky
VT also greatly accelerates performance of Parallels, in case you're interested in virtualizing other OSes (like Windows). thebeephaha
Does parallels really run on a Hackintosh??? My sys is kinda slow to try it, but I was curious for future reference.
