richardyiu
I installed the generic install dvd and have no problem with the installation. After the installation finishes and the system reboots, it always stuck at loading /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBTopCase.kext. I tried to boot with arguments such as -x, -v, -s, platform=X86PC, platform=ACPI -x, all of them don't work. If I plug-in all my usb devices, the cursor will freeze after about 40 seconds. If I unplug all my usb devices, then the cursor will keep on rotating and stall at there. Anyone knows how to solve this problem? If I need to remove that AppleUSBTopCase.kext, anyone knows how to do that? Also do I need to install the SSE3->SSE2 patch manually or the generic install dvd is already patched? Here's my system spec: AMD Althon 64 3500+ (revision CG) 2 * 512MB OCZ DDR 400 RAM ASUS A8V Deluxe Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160GB Hard drive(PATA and connected to the 8237 south bridge) ATi Radeon 8500 64MB Benq DW1640 DVD-RW Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3904-stall-at-darwin-prompt/ Share on other sites
BMC6053
I'm having the same exact problom - I'm not sure but I'm not feeling its really hardware as much as its them extension things.. but I'm a total n00b 2 lol. Anyone have any ideas? BTW: Installation I did was with the Apple.OS.X.x86.10.4.Generic.Install.DVD. I installed it via VMware 5 on a second hard disk without the using the Unix File System. When I tired with the patch, I get a kernel panic even though it works perfectly in VMWare (minus the slugishness). I get the same error I do now in VMWare 2. Proccessor is an Intel Celleron D (325). SSE, SSE2, SSE3 (according to CPUID proggy anyway). Mainboard is i845G Rev.
