Ok, so I have the following specs:

Asus P4S800D-X Motherboard

-AD1888 Audio

-Unknown Realtek LAN chipset

430w Power Supply

512MB DDR Memory

40GB IBM Deskstar Hard Drive IDE (It was a spare)

BenQ DVD+/-RW Drive

I/O Magic DVD+/-RW Drive

ATI Radeon 9200 AGP (soon to be GeForce FX 5200 AGP)

I successfully installed OS 10.4.5 (it was the 10.4.4 with 10.4.5 update on the DVD, I forget the release) and it works (slow boot though) without sound or networking (and without graphics support, but that is understandable.) I tried 2 AD1888 hacks and neither of them worked. I put in an old PCI Ensoniq 1370 card (same one VMWare emulates) and installed Maxxuss drivers, but still no luck. I also cannot locate the networking chipset to get that working. I decided maybe 10.4.8 would be better.

I attempted to boot the 10.4.8 Install DVD from JaS (10.4.8.SSE3.Intel release) and after the darwin screen it flips the screen resolution but reboots the computer when it would normally display the apple logo or verbose mode text. I tried -legacy and the mifki kernel and they all do the same thing. I figured I would download 10.4.8.SSE2.SSE3.AMD.Intel Release from JaS plus the PPF patch and try the patched DVD to see if it is a SSE issue since I only have SSE2.

Any help with confirming the DVD reboot problem or why sound won't work would be appreciated. also if someone could tell me the networking chipset and lead me to a post to get it working would be appreciated.

I have the same MOBO. No sounds or ethernet support. Bought a Netgear card using chip RTL8169S-32. Ethernet works flawless no hassle, plug-n-play with 10.5.2.

Asus P4S800D-X Motherboard

-AD1888 Audio (Not Working)

-X-Fi sound blaster (Not working)

-Nvidia 7600GS AGP 8X 256MB (Works Flawlessly)
