I have a sony vaio laptop and I downloaded cpu-z and my instructions are MMX, SSE, and SSE2. I got it about a year ago and the processor is a Intel Pentium M 740. Are these settings ok for me to use? I am also going be using this iso image>

osx86_10.4.5_amd-intel_sse2-3.iso

I am using this guide for installation> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11339

If there are any other easier and more reliable guides than can you give me a link? This guide seems trustworthy.

Btw do I have to patch my iso? Can you link me to a different thread or a program that will help me? thanks.

Below is how I get mine working, for your reference.

1. Freshly installed JaS 10.4.7.

2. Applied JaS 10.4.8 SEE2 Combo Update patch and reboot.

3. Copied AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleAPIC.kext, IOACPIFamily.kext and IOAudioFamily.kext to desktop.

4. Applied JaS SSE2 Beta9 patch to 10.4.8 SSE2 working installation. DON'T REBOOT!

5. Before reboot, deleted r2d2, AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleAPIC.kext, IOACPIFamily.kext and IOAudioFamily.kext

6. Moved AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleAPIC.kext, IOACPIFamily.kext and IOAudioFamily.kext back to Extensions folder

7. Copied Exp6 kernel (ex. mach_kernel.s6) to root and set permission

(sudo chown root:wheel mach_kernel.s6

sudo chmod 644 mach_kernel.s6)

8. Repaired disk permissions and prebinding things

9. Reboot with mach_kernel.s6 (Press F8 at boot and type mach_kernel.s6 at prompt)

10. To boot with new kernel always, in Terminal

sudo -s

[Password]

cp -f /mach_kernel /mach_kernel.old

cp -f /mach_kernel.s6 /mach_kernel

chown root:wheel /mach_kernel

chmod 644 /mach_kernel

10. Reboot normally

If you want to dual boot with XP, below is a simple way:

1. Boot with 10.4.7 installation DVD.

2. Use Disk Utility to set 1st partition as HFS and 2nd partition as DOS

3. Quit installation.

4. Boot with XP CD and install to 2nd partition (in fact, it's the only partition XP can see)

5. Complete XP installation.

6. Boot with OS X installation DVD and install to 1st partition.

7. After setting acount and booting into OS X, add below keys to Boot.plist

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>5</string>

8. Reboot, darwin boot loader should appear for OS selection.
