ecotopian
I'm not a n00b when it comes to computers, but I seem to not be having any luck with getting a second Intel EtherExpress Pro 100 PCI nic card seen by JaS 10.4.8 with 8.8.1 kernel and ppf update. I am running an AMD 3800+ X2 with 4GB RAM on a Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 Mobo. It appears that this has either an nForce4 LAN or Marvell-Yukon integrated NIC card - which I cannot get seen (Tried every variation of the forcedeth.kext options as well as modifying the IONetworkingFamily.kext - with no luck). I have installed a known working Intel EtherExpress Pro 100 nic card in one of the available PCI slots - the light comes on the nic card, I boot up and cannot get the card seen. I have even gone so far as to reinstall OSX to see if hardware detection will see it, but no go. I have disabled the integrated NIC card in the bios as one option - still no go. I'm not sure what else to try here folks. This is the only thing not running on an otherwise screaming OSX box. I really need internet access to give this a thorough test to see if MAC is the way I want to go but without it, it leaves me wanting and wondering. Any ideas what else I can try to get this card working??? I also have a Netgear FA311 card that doesn't seem to be seen either so I'm not sure what the deal is. HELP!!! frizbot
You may need to buy a compatible ethernet card. Realtek seems to do well. HCLs at- http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page User Blahsucks said "Intel EtherExpress PRO/100 VE - works" in September 2005. That doesn't help much, sorry. User REVENGE has the same Netgear card, maybe he got it working? He suggests the 10.4.3 kexts- http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...48&hl=fA311 You have the latest OS X release that I know of. The nForce4 Ethernet is being worked on AFAIK, so time may help. Also try the IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.4.7 - that helped me on another machine. Sorry I can't be of much help. ecotopian
Anyone have the 10.4.7 IONetworkingFamly.kext that I can get my hands on??? Forcedeth seems to try and initialize my LAN - the light goes off on the nic once forcedeth initializes - Realtek huh? Guess I'll give that a shot and see what happens...
