Scotty geek
I have a very excellent working system using the Jas 10.4.8 (SSE3) DVD, but Im still having one issue now with my USB Ports. they are supposed to be USB 2.0 Highspeed ports, but THe system profiler is not seeing any of them as such. When I connect anything to the USB port they are operating at a max speed of 12Mbs for all of them. I know that on a regular mac the High speed ports are showing as a USB Highspeed Bus. Is there anything I need to patch or change to get this fully working? Any help would be appreciated. Here is my info.. MB Intel 865PERL, P4 2.8HT, SSE3,SSE2. 2GB ram, ATI 1600AGP,Firewire PCI card. AC97 sound. 10.4.8 Jas DVD with Semthex kern. 10.4.4 Login fix, ATI AGP titan. No other patchs running. I tried the USB2.0 fix, but it just killed my ports. Unless there is something that has to be done WITH the fix. thanks to all Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38903-usb-20-help-needed/ Share on other sites

Scotty geek
Ok I tried everything in the 10.4.7 USB Fixed post, and made a little headway. Now there is a Highspeed USB Port showing in system profilier. However I tried all my USB ports and none of them are actually them . Very weird. Could OSX just add a Virtual USB port or something like that? There is something I seen someone have to do by plugging in a PS2 Keyboard, and then it allocates the high speed properly.. Im going to give that a shot tonight. On the plus side, my USB ports are working as plug and play. Before the usb had to be on and plugged in before OSX loads. Hey every little step... granted its a small thing, but its sooooo close to being perfectly working. Grrrrrr If anyone else is using an INTEL 865PERL board and has this problem let me know, especially if you fixed it.. Thanks. Polymira
I was having the same isssue as you guys, went down to circuit city, and bought an "Ads Tech Dual-Link" USB/Firewire card, works great for usb 2.0, and OSX see's the firewire. Was expensive though, but i wanted to buy it there in case i needed to return it. graspony
Yes thats indeed expensive, but what i mean is with an USB card for a PCI slot. I just tested mine USB ports and he recognise them but when you put someing in the USB he stops. Is anybody working with usb pci that works? graspony
Now i see whats going on. I tested some more. This is what i did. I have 2 printers: one old printer HP DESKJET 5550 USB 1.1 one brand new EPSON DX6000 USB 2.0 What happens on USB 2.0 with the EPSON he give a connection error, with the HP on USB 1.1 works fine. Thats why some USB devices works and others don´t work. So only USB 1.1 devices only works with the onboard USB of the mainboard MSI K8T800. I´m looking further for a solution and continuing testing. mErlin21
mac fly: I did try that but no luck. I see High-Speed USB Bus but does not matter which port I use, it is always running in USB 1.1 mode.
