no mac(0xAF) partition on disk(if it harddrive) , imho.

i dont think it could be a hard drive .. coz if you look at the pic .. there are three options for me to choose ..

" initialize" "ignore" "eject" ...

imo...if eject is given it should be optical drive ?

what do you think?

Sure... and now it wants to initialize the second partition for which OSX doesnt know what is... and thats why you get that.

But be careful... initialize means format to hfs...

so thats what it is .. thank you for making me a little brighter !! :)

do you happen to know how can i enable a log in prompt when mac boots up ? something like xp when it boots up ..

as of now .. on osx i will get this prompt when i log off ..

sorry to disturb you all again .. i wanna know how to install .kext file ? i just downloaded natit_ATI.kext for my graphics card .. what do i do next ?

OSX is a whole new world is grasp !! if it was xp .. just double click .exe file to install driver .. for mac i am in a total strange land here ..

experts please ...

i am such a noob when it comes to mac .. and i am an MCSE in windows 2003 ..

To install any kext use this:

- Put YOUR.kext in your /System/Library/Extensions/ folder

- Correct the file premissions: sudo chown -R root:wheel YOUR.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 YOUR.kext

- Remove the cached and packed extensions: sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

- reboot.

Eject for hard drives means - software unplug and put hard disk to sleep mode

i had same emssages before i create hfs partition on my second hard drive.
