trym
hi guys, obiously youre a bunch of helpful people and i'm in need for some help! after installing jas 10.4.6 i tried to update within osx using the method posted here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...783&hl=pure everything seemed to work until i tried to go into the terminal, thats when i noticed that programs wouldn't open at all. so i couldn't replace the kernel with a patched one -- ergo i had to exit, and of course during boot theres always a restart. so now heres my question: what went wrong and is it possible to rebuild the kernel without booting into osx?? i have it placed on root, all i need is a bash to perform "mv /s5 /mach_kernel"! thanks for your help! regards, paul Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38654-rebuild-the-kernel-from-outside-osx/ Share on other sites
kevinosx
yes when osx is loading keep hitting f8 and it will get you to terminal, you can do it there, or if it doesn't work then just type "mach_kernel.old" and it should get you back in to do what you need to! don't recognize or know a solution for the terminal issue though!
