hey guys i installed 10.4.8 on my system but no good

i installed the titan driver for the video card it picks them up then says fail and crashes ;)

using 7600gs nvidia cards :whistle:

tryed before to install the macvidia drivers and it crashed what am i doing wrong !

also i installed 10.4.7 and used pacifit to extact and install the nvidia driver on 10.4.7 from 10.4.8 amd final, and had to reinstall 10.4.7 cause osx crashes at boot <<< does this need the 10.4.8 kernel to work !!

will 10.4.7 work with nvidia 7600gs ?

should i install over 10.4.7 or update it i really dont want to reinstall osx for the 9th time :thumbsup_anim: !!! just for my video card but i do want it to work!!! :tomato:

Here is what I have done on my Abit DigiDice with P4 SSE2 and PNY GeForce 7600GS

You need:

1) Clean Jas 10.4.8 AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3 Install

2) Pacifist:

http://www.versiontracker.com/php/dlpage.p...%2FPacifist.dmg

3) nvidiaNV40.pkg:

http://x86osx.com/bbs/data/pds/NvidiaNV40.pkg.zip

4) Original Apple Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update (Intel):

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...pdateintel.html

Once done with Jas 10.4.8, install nvidiaNV40.pkg and then delete AGPGart.kext in /System/Library/Extensions (I have to try leaving it untouched).

Now add your device ID (mine is 0x02e1, you find it in About this Mac menu, under the Graphic tab) to GeForce.kext, nvdaNV40Hal.kext and NVDAREsman.kext located in /System/Library/Extensions.

It's time to load Pacifist: open the original Apple Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (Intel) and search for OpenGL.framework and QuartzCore.framework. Install both of them in default location with admin privileges (you'll have to overwrite the original files).

Now a bit of bash, open Terminal and do as follow:

sudo -s (press return, you'll have to write your password)

rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext (press return)

rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache (press return)

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/* (press return)

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/* (press return)

diskutil repairpermissions / (press return)

exit (press return)

Now reboot and enjoy your GeForce 7600GS with QE and CI enabled.

Izutsu, thank u very much for this instructions, but they don't work for me.

I have JaS OS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSe2 SSe3 Beta v2 Installation disk

and ASUS N7600GS AGP graphics card

The way I solved this problem is:

1. Make clean installation of os with Natit (without dual display support because i have only one display)

After installation my system rebooted and booting failed with "You need to restart..." message

written on different languages.

2. reboot with -v -s parameters and follow the instructions i've found there: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...;p=418035

3. now i successfully boot up into graphics mode and finished the installation of Mac Os X ( QE&CI are not supported )

4. install nvidiaNV40.pkg: http://x86osx.com/bbs/data/pds/NvidiaNV40.pkg.zip (thx for link...)

5. Open AGPGart contents and errase Info.plist file and then reboot

Now I have QE & CI suppotred but there are some difference in system profilers contents:

i have AGP gr card GeForce 7600 GS with 256MB VRAM

System profiler:

Chipset Model: Generic NVIDIA // GeForce 7600 GS

BUS: PCI // AGP

VRAM(Total): 256MB // 256MB
