letni
I have installed Jas 10.4.8 (8.8.1) PPF1 on an Inspiron 9300 laptop and I have the system working fine Pentium-m SSE2 1.73ghz 1 gig DDR2 Geforce Go 6800 GT (QE/CI) except for the fact that when running on battery power, the UI slows to a crawl (probably cause the CPU is slowing to 800mhz from SpeedStep). By slow to a crawl, I mean all the animation runs less than 1/2 the speed it is suppsoed to, such as minimize to dock. The animation is smooth, just takes 2x as long as it is supposed to. Does anyone know about any issues with running laptops on AC as apposed to battery with 8.8.1 kernel on 10.4.8 ? Thanks Letni Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38493-inspiron-9300-runs-really-slow-w-ac-adaptor-unplugged/ Share on other sites
U.C.
This is a known problem. 10.4.3 doesnot seem to exhibit this. I had the same issue with my Dell 700m. You need to use CPUThrottler I believe to set your CPU Speed back to 1.7GHz. Also if you boot your laptop with AC then remove battery, it will work at full speed. There was a long discussion about this in the Hardware->Drivers->PowerManagement threads. I stopped using OSX on my 700m long back, sorry to say, I donot remember much.
