askeyol
So I just got a brand new Aspire 5100 this December, and for the past 3 days have been trying to dual-boot mac os x onto it. It\'s given me loads of difficulty. I downloaded the 10.4.6 JaS release and tried to boot it from startup. No good. I got a \"still waiting for root device\" error. So I tried using VMware. That worked without many problems. But when I tried to place the virtual drive onto a hard drive using dd, I got a kernel panic when starting up. Next I tried installing it directly to the disk using VMware and got an \"error loading operating system\" message at bootup. I spent around 18 hours searching this site (I would\'ve spent more but it\'s finals week) and am sure I did each installation correctly, but, well, apparently not. I\'m starting to get the suspicion that JaS 10.4.6 just doesn\'t work on Aspire 5100. Am I correct? CPU Type Mobile DualCore AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50, 1600 MHz (8 x 200) Motherboard Chipset ATI Radeon Xpress 200M (I think) System Memory 896 MB (DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM) Disk Drive 160 GB, 4200 RPM, ATA Build JaS 10.4.6 DVD+R (I\'m downloading Goatsecx right now just in case) Thank you in advance! I\'m a programmer so I thought it would be a piece of cake, but I guess not, eh? askeyol
Grrrrr.... I just used Mac's disk utility to copy my VMware partition to a partition on my hard drive and it gave me another kernel panic. Anyone know what's going on?
