network and sound?

I hate to sound like an idiot but im new to the hackintosh community. so my questions are as follows

• if/how i do i get my network to work? (I've already got the tulip pactch but every time i enter the "sudo make install" command it says "command not found" or something to that effect.)
  
• if/how i do i get my sound to work?
  
• Can I use and Alseis Multimix 8 USB mixer as my input/output? (I just got the USB 2.0 up and working. System profiler detects the mixer but wont display it in the system preferences/sound)
  
• how do i change the resolution without having to type the code on startup
  
• any other information anyone thinks that would be useful to me would also be appreciated.
