chasingcharlie
If I startup up with F8 and use -x, my ati 1600x works perfectly, can select resolution or colors; if I start otherwise, then it hangs when the graphical interface starts up ... I have not edited any of the files yet -- does anyone know what is causing this or where I might find a log file that tells me where it's a problem? (I'd run -x mode all the time but I don't have network access there.) thanks charlie Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38061-x-f8-startupfull-graphics-access-otherwise-hangs/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
Any errors when you start up with "-v" ? For logs, go to Utilities folder -> Console. Click on Logs in left side of tool bar. Read the Console.log and the System.log. On System.log, scroll back to when you have previously booted without "-x". Might want to boot regularly and experience the hang then immediately boot "-x" and look at logs. On Console.log, a new one is created for each boot. Go to the /Library/Logs item -> Console -> 501 and find past Console.logs.
