Rammjet
Read what the DVD is telling you when you boot it. When the you boot the install DVD, you see 3 things: 1. a timer is counting down 2. a message to "press any key to install: 3. a message to press "F8" for options If you let the timer run out, the DVD will try to boot OSX that is installed on the partition. Since you have not yet installed anything, there are no files to read and you get the error. Instead, do as the DVD asks and "press any key to install" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37548-error-message-when-booting-install-dvd/#findComment-267323 Share on other sites

technodog
I've got the same problem! When you boot from DVD the blinking "-" appears and after that this silly message appears. On my old PC (P4) I could install the system - so the DVD isn't not working. My system: Asus P5B C2D E6400 nVidia GF 7950gt (512MB) 2GB DDR2 RAM 2 s-ata drives Please help, because I won't continue wirking with windows Yours Daniel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37548-error-message-when-booting-install-dvd/#findComment-267383 Share on other sites

grimmreaper
I'm also having the same problem. No opportunity to "Press any key". Despite on me pounding the kyboard however much, boots straight to error message. I was thinking it's because we both have the same motherboard (P5B), but on there has been successful installations for P5B's on the wiki ( http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8 ). This is sad, I'm itching to try this out on my newly upgraded computer, but can't, even though i've been using it on my old P4 ... Sailfish
Hmmm.... Look at your BIOS settings... enable USB options including "legacy" if you are USBeeeeing and check PS2 options if you are on that path. grimmreaper
That didn't work. Set USB to legacy. I tried unplugging all the other USB devices except keyboard and mouse. Still boots straight to that error message. Any ideas I can try? Any ideas? did you try verbose mode -v... this is what vmware does whn you try to install the os on it so you might have a machine that will not run this version... try a different version of osx and see if that works Edited January 22, 2007 by Cosmo Kramer Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37548-error-message-when-booting-install-dvd/#findComment-281426 Share on other sites
grimmreaper
Pressing F8 during the blinking phase brings up this screen typing ? does nothing at all, just shows back the same screen here. typing -v will bring back the error message.
