The Finish Line

Well Ladies and gentlemen it is finally done. I complete OSX install with everything working aside for a wireless card.

 

First the hardware.

Intel PERL865 Motherboard (on-board sound, USB worky)

Intel 2.8Ghz (HT,SSE2, SSE3)478 proc.

2GB PC400 DDR ram

Saphire 1600Pro AGP 256MB (fully supported installed off the JAS 10.4.8 reseed with the ATI 1x00 AGP Support option)

M-Audio USB Quatro recording interface

Asus DL CD/DVD burner (with patchburn for support)

RICOH 4x DVD burner (Supported)

 

The Method: JAS 10.4.8 with semthex kernel, ATI 1x00 AGP Support, 10.4.4 login fix installed right off the DVD and everything is working, aside from patch burn and M-Audio drivers There was nothing else to load or patch or edit.

 

The Results: A excellent snappy interface. Loaded FCP UB and iLife so far and all works well. Ran the obligitory xBench test (51.26 results Which is a hare slower than my iMac G5 1.8 (56.2) and twice as fast as my G4 imac so I was pleased).

 

The future: Will be testing (ahem) 3d gaming and more 3d performace, upgrading so speakers which wont matter to anything. in a few months will be trying to build a Core 2Duo hackintosh and get those scores way up.

 

Thanks to Jas and everyone who worked so hard on this project. With out you guys I'd still be trying to fight off viruses and spyware in windows.
