Hey guys, great to see a development group so dedicated to this! Anyways..

I was wondering, I have a spare 80GB HDD and I want to partition the entire thing with OS X! i have the Deadmoo file (tiger-x86.tar.bz2) and I have a windows computer (windows drive is 200GB, I have a spare that I want all OS X). Can I just do the Ubuntu Method and partition the entire drive?

You know what, scratch that, I am going to NOT use deadmoo, I hear from the forums its old tech :) So I have settled with the Generic Install DVD. IS there a link to the install of this? Can someone PLEASE help me?

whell i downloaded deadmoo and it didnt take too long but the generic install takes forever, 2 full days at 35% because i am downloading it now. i would rather get dead moo working but its not working right anyway heres the link

i think this is the one [Removed, see http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=29]

What about that Apple.OS.X.X.86.Generic.Install.DVD thing?

OS X was installed fine. I am having a problem with starting up, I can do it in safe mode only. When I go to try to start in normally, it says I need to restart. Once in Internet doesn't work (I got a p4p800 SE, Marvell Yukon). I tried putting in a USB to Ethernet adapter but that failed, and I want internet. The onboard audio is Realtek ALC850, I think that doesn't work. Any internet and audio suggestions? Also with the startup thing?

To get sound, check the wiki.

If you have an ATI graphics card, delete the ATI kext files. Might help you boot.

Please post your complete system specs. (chipset, graphics card, lan chipset, etc.)

My specs:

Intel Pentium 4 3.0E @ 4GHz stable WITH SSE3 S478

Asus P4P800 SE

ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 MB 256 BIT

1gb PC 2700 ram

(1) 200 GB S-ATA drive(windows) and (1)80GB IDE MAC OS X 10.4.1

LAN Chipset -Marvel Yukon 88E8001

NorthBridge -865 PE

SouthBridge -ICH5R

1) To fix failsafe try to delete the ATI kext with:

#sudo -s

# cd /System/Library/Extensions

# rm -r ATI*

By the way delete the TPM kext:

# rm -r AppleTPMACPI.kext

and try if you can't boot without "-x" now.

2) Your Audio card is supported:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCLPart#Sound

Just check the Wiki and the forum about it.

(no sound in failsafe!)

3) For your LAN:

If it don't work buy a Realtek 8139 (5€ in Germany)

The only thing you will miss is QE and OpenGL because your Graphic card is not supported, everything else should work in your OSX86.

Thanks a bunch. I am warming up to MAC, maybe I can get over this PC addiction eh? Im going to try to do this kext thing, maybe I can boot normal. And Ill try to pick up a Realtek 8139 Later.

I also have a Wireless card that seems to work Good, Netgear WG311 v2 PCI

It says my ADI AD1985 should work but it doesn't! well im not sure if it does or not becuase itunes won't work! LOL so yeah! I did get a Realtek 8139 card, will test it soon.

Hi MoldyBread,

What image did you use to install ?, tiger-x86.tar.bz2 or Marklar-Tiger.dmg ?, i'm dowloading right now the tiger-x86.tar.bz2 image, but it's 1.29 GB, so this will take me a long time. I ask you this because if the Marklar-Tiger.dmg image is better than tiger-x86.tar.bz2, then i'll stop this download and i'll star to download the Marklar-Tiger.dmg image. Thanks you for your time and good luck with your fixing.

I used the Apple.OS.X.x86.10.4.Generic.Install.DVD. In the downloaded file, I burned the Generic-Tiger.iso image to a dvd and it installed just like OS X would.
