What do you think is the best option to install windows (I hate it, but need it) native or virtual ?

Sure native should be a bit faster but therefore the transfer between both systems is not so easy.

So I think it depend on what applications you use.

I ask, because I was a windows user for a long time (but changed my Windows so that it looks like a mac ...thanks to FLyakite OS for macing that possible). Then a friend told me about installing Mac OS X on my x86 Pc (like you an read it in this Forum. I did it and get it working (after two days). But it is slow ... especial if I launch parallels for booting windows and Linux ....

Threfore I made the decision to buy a macbook pro (because Mac Os X is much better then Windows, you can believe me, I have been tortured by windows for years).

But there are two windows programms (only windows) I need ... that's at the one hand a vokabel trainer called "vokabulator" or "tulox" I need tis programm because I have nearly 10.000 vokabularys and I do not want to retipe them. ... and the second Applicaion is a game called "Counter Strike" (I think you know it, the best game ever)... so what I want to know is ... if any one has tryed playing games in high resolution using parallels or the new Mvware beta... or any other programm ?

Please report your experiences.

Thanks for hep

PS: I'm sorry for my english, but I'm no native speaker so it is difficult for me.

I think Parallels is working towards being able to directly boot up a Boot Camp WinXP installation within OSX, rather than having to use a virtual hard drive file. So you could do the full Boot Camp boot when you need the direct hardware access for high end gaming and then the Parallels boot of the same partition when you just want quick access to Windows. If they get it all working dependably and safely, that would seem to be the best of the best.

For example, in a macbook pro, can I watch divx movies soomthly in XP running under Parellels?

Also how about the speed using Visual Studio 2005, and some other development tools?

Thanks

Not too much, but YMMV depending of the task you're performing and your hardware resources.

In my own experience, and having a hackintosh unable to use VT (which is supposed to give you a big performance jump, and that your MB is able to use) almost any task is snappy and responsive. Only when I'm ripping DVDs (that's actually the only use I have Windows for) and running other tasks in OS X at the same time, I can feel some lags and a performance drop, mostly over the Parallels side. I have 2 GB ram, half of it assigned to Parallels.
