Hello,

I'm using Tubgirl's AMD 10.4.8 install dvd. I left it installing over night, and this morning it said "Software was succesfully installed." So, I clicked continue to move onto the "Finish Up" stage, but nothing happened for a long time. Someone in the IRC channel was kind enough to suggest that I simply remove the DVD and reboot, saying that the Finish Up stage was useless.

When I did this, I set the BIOS to have the target hard drive (an external usb drive) boot first, but when I booted, it acted as though nothing had been installed, and I got the usual message you get when you boot an empty hard drive.

However, I booted into ubuntu and checked the drive, and it had about 6 gb worth of data on it, so the installation must have been succesful.

My first thought was that it was because it was a USB hard drive, but it's worked with other OS's in the past, and my bios fully supports booting to it as though it were a regular disk.

Is it possible that by not allowing the Finish Up stage to take place, I somehow ruined the OS X boot loader\manager? If so, is there a way to remedy this?

Suggestions are extremely welcome!

Thanks in Advanced
